How to Give Remedies to Livestock
Giving Remedies
The remedy needs to contact a mucous membrane - nose, muzzle, vulva (not eyes!)
You can pop the pills directly into the animal’s mouth but by far the easiest way is via water.
Add one or two pills to water in either a spray bottle, water bottle, or bucket, or even the trough.
Sprays are very useful because they are versatile - you can spray onto water troughs, onto feed, onto the animal’s muzzle or vulva or even mist the air as animals are gathered or being moved.
Plastic mineral or soft drinks bottles are useful to carry round to dose troughs or even tanks.
NB
If you are going to keep your made-up remedy for longer than a few days, as a preservative add approx 10-15ml of vodka or apple cider vinegar to your bottle.
Remedies MUST be kept out of sunlight - there is no use leaving your bottle out on a wall in the yard
