In this 2 hour recorded webinar, wholistic vet Chris Aukland and veterinary nurse and behaviourist Morag Sutherland combine decades of experience to deliver wholistic solutions and advice on a wide range of natural approaches to help traumatised and/or rescued animals.
Every year thousands and thousands of animals get rescued or rehomed in the UK, mostly pets but also equines, hens, farm animals and even wildlife. Usually these animals have a background of disruption, sometimes neglect and even cruelty. They also have a long journey of stress and upheaval as they go through the rescue process, followed by a further period of adjustment as they settle into new and (hopefully) permanent homes.
Sadly the stress and trauma experienced by these animals can often result in a whole package of problems. Referencing a toolkit of alternative medicine & complementary therapies, behavioural techniques, and natural feeding, Chris and Morag guide you through strategies for:
- Separation anxiety and associated disorders
- Phobias or 'hysteria' around key triggers such as feeding time, exercise etc
- 'Anti-social' behaviour when out in public
- Destructive behaviour such as indoor urinating or defaecating, repetitive calling or barking, chewing, scratching furniture etc
- Failure to thrive, poor appetite and/or digestive problems
- Physical problems, eg from poor breeding, malnutrition, and old injuries
- Aggression to people or other animals
In addition to the above, Chris and Morag give you a holistic framework of support for your rescue animals throughout the whole of their lives, helping you to:
- Plan for and prepare their new environment
- Introduce them to their new home
- Settle them into their new life
- Provide ongoing support
- Plan for senior years and end of life support
Suitable for:
Anyone interested in natural and alternative approaches to support animals suffering from extreme stress or trauma.
